How much weight is placed on extra-curricular, clubs, activities, service learning activities?
We would like to see students who are involved in their communities and schools as it shows they are going above and beyond the classroom experience.
-St. Mary's University of Minnesota
Will not be used in admission process, more so used in scholarship process
-North Dakota State University
We place some weight on those extra-curricular activities if students do not meet our general admissions requirements.
-Bemidji State University
We don't require these things to be presented for admissions/ acceptance purposes, however, they do help with some of our specialty programs (Honors Program, Character in Leadership, Wilson Scholarship Competition).
-University of Jamestown
Extra-curriculars are viewed as a secondary factor and are more there to support an application.
-University of Minnesota-Twin Cities
For admitting a student, not much. For considering them for external scholarships, very much.
-Concordia College-Moorhead
We don't use these for admission purposes but these are extremely helpful when we interview students for our achievement scholarships.
-Northland College
Students are reviewed based upon a number of factors which include these items, however these generally play a more prominent role when reviewing for departmental/talent scholarships and some direct admission programs.
-Carroll University
Moderate- students who participate in something outside the classroom tend to do better.
-University of Wisconsin-Superior
We use a holistic rubric; these are taken into consideration.
-Cottey College
It is taken into consideration during the holistic review we do.
-University of Wisconsin-Barron County
We look for leadership experience and qualities for our leadership development program / scholarship.
-University of Northwestern-St. Paul
We value students who are well rounded! However, having a high GPA or test scores will be most beneficial if you are trying to come to GCU.
-Grand Canyon University
None for admission, but Leadership and Diversity scholarships place significant weight on extra-curricular activities.
